Australia's only current male world champion Jason Moloney (27-2) looks to make the second defence of his WBO bantamweight title when he faces Yoshiki Takei (8-0) in Tokyo on Monday, May 6. The bout features as part of the biggest event in Japanese boxing history, headlined by undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue's bout with Luis Nery.
The 33-year-old Victorian claimed the vacant title when outclassing Vincent Astrolabio last year before recording his maiden defence in January in an early fight of the year contender with Saul Sanchez.
In Takei, Moloney has an opponent he can't switch off against. The hard-hitting southpaw may have only had eight professional fights but he's won them all by knockout and has previously been a kickboxing world champion.
